What is Psychosynthesis?
Life is a journey. Sometimes things get complicated. We lose our way and we need to get back on track. Within us lie the answers to how we achieve this – Psychosynthesis is a way to help us find them.
Psychosynthesis is a constructive and creative form of therapy. It uses the conventional counselling skills of listening and empathy and the Gestalt concept of the ‘here and now’. It acknowledges the importance of childhood and parents on our present state, and also recognises the importance of the present moment and future possibilities.
As the unconscious mind prefers to communicate with images rather than words (as in dreams), Psychosynthesis uses creative techniques to find out what is unfolding within us. These include creative visualisation, drawing and writing.
Psychosynthesis acknowledges a spiritual dimension to life and has been
influenced by both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions.
